Supported files

Check your file before you upload it.

This is the same list the uploader itself works from. If a format is named below, REEVUU reads it and quotes from it; if it is not, REEVUU says so when you choose the file rather than after it has been sent.

What REEVUU can review

  • XML.xmlup to 10 MB

Each format has its own size limit, from 5 MB for YAML to 30 MB for PowerPoint (PPTX). A review covers one file. Reviewing several documents together is not available yet.

Not accepted yet: Excel macro-enabled (XLSM), JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIFF, BMP, Email (EML)

Each of these carries a limitation, so it is not accepted for upload yet. For photographs and image-only scans the text is not read yet, so REEVUU would have no wording to quote and no evidence to show you. A scan saved as a searchable PDF — the option most scanners and office copiers offer — carries a text layer and is read normally today. Macro-enabled workbooks are read without ever running macros. A saved email is read as a message, but the files attached to it are not opened. Upload an important attachment as its own file.

Have a HEIC/HEIF, Outlook (MSG), Word 97–2003 (DOC), Rich Text (RTF), OpenDocument Text (ODT), Excel 97–2003 (XLS), Excel binary (XLSB), OpenDocument Spreadsheet (ODS), PowerPoint 97–2003 (PPT), PowerPoint macro-enabled (PPTM), OpenDocument Presentation (ODP) file? Convert it first
  • HEIC/HEIF: Export the photo as JPG or PNG (iPhone: Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible, or share via Files which converts automatically) and upload that instead.
  • Outlook (MSG): In Outlook, open the message and use File → Save As → choose EML, or print/export it to PDF, then upload that file.
  • Word 97–2003 (DOC): Open the file in Word (or Google Docs / LibreOffice) and save it as DOCX or export it to PDF, then upload that.
  • Rich Text (RTF): Open the file in any word processor and save it as DOCX or PDF, then upload that.
  • OpenDocument Text (ODT): In LibreOffice/OpenOffice, save the document as DOCX or export it to PDF, then upload that.
  • Excel 97–2003 (XLS): Open the workbook in Excel (or Google Sheets / LibreOffice) and save it as XLSX, then upload that.
  • Excel binary (XLSB): Open the workbook in Excel and save it as XLSX, then upload that.
  • OpenDocument Spreadsheet (ODS): In LibreOffice/OpenOffice, save the spreadsheet as XLSX, then upload that.
  • PowerPoint 97–2003 (PPT): Open the deck in PowerPoint (or Google Slides / LibreOffice) and save it as PPTX, then upload that.
  • PowerPoint macro-enabled (PPTM): In PowerPoint, save the deck as PPTX (macros are removed by PowerPoint in that conversion), then upload that.
  • OpenDocument Presentation (ODP): In LibreOffice/OpenOffice, save the presentation as PPTX or export it to PDF, then upload that.

If your file is not on the list

You find out before you upload it.

A file REEVUU cannot read is refused as soon as you pick it — before it is uploaded, before any review starts. The message names your format and, where you can fix it yourself, what to save it as instead.

A few things are outside what REEVUU does rather than waiting to be added: it reviews files you upload, so it does not fetch a web page from its address, and it does not handle audio or video.
